Ever had your phone screen flip when you didn’t want it to? Or maybe you do want it to rotate while watching a video. Either way, turning auto-rotate on or off is super easy on Android.
Here’s how you can do it.
Method 1: Use the Settings App
Open Settings:
To access the Settings menu, open the gear icon by swiping down from the top of your screen.
Tap “Display”:
Your screen settings are organized in this location.
Scroll to find “Auto-rotate screen”:
You might see it under an “Advanced” section—just look around.
Turn it on or off:
Tap the switch. If it's on, your screen will rotate when you turn your phone. If it's off, it stays locked.
Tip: The toggle usually turns blue or green when it’s enabled.
Method 2: Use the Quick Settings Menu
Don’t want to dig into Settings?
- Just swipe down from the top of your screen.
- Look for the Auto-rotate icon.
- Tap it to toggle it on or off.
It’s that quick.
A Few Handy Tips:
If screen rotation drives you crazy, keep it off.
Some apps—especially games or video players—might ignore your auto-rotate setting and force their own view.
Want to stop that? You may need to turn off auto-rotate just for that app, if the app offers this option.
